Rebecca Masterton
Provisional Psychologist - Behaviour Support Practitioner
Rebecca is a provisional psychologist and a proud Indigenous Australian with a strong desire for helping individuals who face day-to-day challenges. She believes her purpose in life is to care for others by working with them to improve their mental health and well-being. After working as a carer for over three years in the disability and age-care sector, Rebecca gained a strong desire for working with individuals who have lived experience with disabilities, and/or those who face adversity. However, ultimately, Rebecca’s passion lies in supporting the improvement of mental health and well-being within all vulnerable communities. This also includes her Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, suicidal individuals, mature-age people, domestic violence survivors, and at risk children.Â
Rebecca’s areas of interest include: Depression, Generalised Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Trauma & Loss, supporting people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds (including refugees), the LGBTIQ+ community, and applying culturally informed treatment for Indigenous Australians.
Rebecca’s approach to therapy is client centred and focuses on strength based strategies and self-determination. She respectfully encourages her clients to work at their own pace towards self-exploration, with an overarching goal of encouraging her clients to realise their own inner potential.Â
Rebecca's therapeutic intervention includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She has a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours, a Master of Professional Psychology, and a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practice. Rebecca is also a Crisis Support Counsellor for Lifeline.
